Let us probe the silent places, let us seek what luck betide us;
Let us journey to a lonely land I know.
There's a whisper on the night-wind, there's a star agleam to guide us,
And the Wild is calling, calling . . . let us go.

Fly out

Wake up to heavy rain. It occurs to me that we might rig up some kind of water collection device but by the time we climb out of the tent to do so, the rain has stopped. We go back to bed and a small caribou clambers across the river and out onto the bank right next to Billís tent. Once we get up (for good) we set off in search of water. We finally filter some run-off that has collected in a ditch beside the road. Itís actually quite good water. The plane arrives slightly ahead of schedule, but we are ready for him. The pilot insists on using all of the runway, despite the eastern half being quite soft (and dangerous). Flight back to Whitehorse is uneventful except for when we flew over the GIGANTIC forest fire Ė quite a spectacular sight. Arrive in Whitehorse about 4:30 and weíre back in the Westmark Conference Center by 5:30.
